Objectives:

• Understand major components to outlining a standard essay
• Gain practice in implement these into diagnostic essay
• Review major criteria to thesis and revise own essay accordingly

Part I: Go over Outlining Assignment & Google Drive (10 min) 9:00-9:10
Your next assignment in this class is to create a draft/outline of your diagnostic exam. Please click on the direction under Unit 1 and follow along as I go over your next task. 

Part II: Major Components to Outlining: Review (10 min) 9:10-9:20
Let's begin with a review of the major components needed in an outline. Please click on OUTLINE SAMPLE to access materials. 


Part III: Review Thesis Statements Basics (2-3 min)
What are the main elements needed in a thesis statement?
What are some elements that should NOT be in a thesis statement? 

Part IV: From Thesis to Outline Worksheet/Workshop (15-30 min) 9:20-9:35/50 

Now that we have discussed both Thesis and Outlining, we are ready to thinking about how these can be applied to our own essay. Please refer the THESIS TO OUTLINE WORKSHEET and follow along to the instructions.
